Harrah’s Council Bluffs Review
I have been to Harrah’s riverboat casino and the new land-based casino in Council Bluffs many times.
Harrah’s is one of three casinos in Council Bluffs, with the Ameristar Casino and the Horseshoe Council Bluffs all within a few miles.
Coming up on the casino hotel complex, there are many options for parking including valet.
You can either use the valet at the main entrance, park in a covered multi-level parking garage or use the main parking lot in front of the hotel.
The hotel is very nice and located right with the casino. I have stayed there recently and recommend that you ask for a room with a river view. The Missouri River is not exactly a sight-seeing destination but it is a nice view. That view also gives you the Omaha skyline view just across the river.
They offer a decent buffet there, nothing to get overly excited about but worth eating. They also have the 360 Steakhouse and the Stir Cove Backstage Grill. The Grill is a classic diner look and feel with good food when you just want something a little lighter and cheaper.
One of the big attractions is the Stir Cove. They have a Stir Cove Concert Series of name bands that come to town for shows in an outdoor setting.
The Westwood Golf Course is right next to the casino and offers a pretty good round of golf at a reasonable price.
Now the main course…the casino.
The entrance into the casino is just to your left after coming in the main doors. The ringing of slot machines will guide your way.
For those wanting a cheap game of blackjack, they offer $2 blackjack on Tuesdays. They have a Two-for-Tuesday promotion every Tuesday that includes some $2 meals and two for $20 buffet.
This casino is kind of small, but clean and modern. The layout of their tables and slots are done very well though. They don’t pack so much in that it is cramped. It is actually very easy to get around with plenty of room in the aisles.
As far as winning at this casino, I have been more miss than hit. I do see some people winning so it may just be me. I haven’t given up on Harrah’s though. I think they need a few more chances.
If you visit Harrah’s, make sure to get a player’s card. They are good about sending coupons and promotions. Occasionally I will get a coupon for a free night at the hotel.
They are also good to veterans offering free buffets on military service holidays.
